Why study in the UK?

Will I be eligible for any scholarship?

There are a wide range of scholarships offered by the UK Government to support international students coming to study in the UK. A few of them are Chevening Scholarship, Scotland Saltire Scholarship, Commonwealth Masters Scholarship, etc. Additionally, there are also individual university scholarships that are extended to international students by a majority of UK Universities. When should I start applying for September intake?

The key is to apply as early as possible. UK Universities accept applications on a rolling basis. Most of them have deadlines in June. Start your research early, and finalise the universities you want to apply for by December. This can give you enough time to apply, receive offer letters, and make an informed decision before the acceptance deadline. 

What exams should I take before applying?

Different universities have different eligibility requirements. These requirements also differ from course to course within the same university. 

 

  1. Language proficiency exams: International students who belong to non-native english speaking countries can be required to show a proof of their English language proficiency. The language proficiency exams that students could be required by a university are: IELTS: International English Language Testing System, TOEFL: Test of English as a Foreign Language, PTE: Pearson Test English, and UCLES: University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate
  2. Entrance Exams: Exams such as GRE:The Graduate Record Examination and GMAT: the Graduate Management Admission Test are sometimes required by a few institutions for graduate business and other masters courses. 
  3. Other Exams: There are a few other exams that are sometimes required by Medical Schools in the UK. They are: BMAT: BioMedical Admissions Test, UKCAT: UK Clinical Aptitude Test, etc.

Do I need IELTS to apply to all UK Universities?

No, not all courses and universities require you to take the IELTS exam, however most UK Universities suggest that you do take one. We provide proper guidance and language test preparation assistance to all international students. Get in touch with us to know more about the same. 

How many universities should I apply to?

You should focus on applying to the universities that are a perfect match for your profile. Always focus on quality over quantity when it comes to application as applying to a lot of universities can be overwhelming, time consuming, and can cost you more money. We suggest you shortlist 5-7 universities with our counselors and focus on those courses only. However, this is your decision and we will be happy to take all your thoughts and propositions into consideration. 

Will I be eligible for the post-study work visa?

From 1 July 2021, all international students pursuing a degree at undergraduate level or above, and who successfully complete their studies from summer 2021 onwards are eligible to apply for the post-study work visa. All the students will need to be in the UK and hold a valid Tier 4 or Student visa to apply.

When can I apply for the post-study work visa?

Students are preparing to apply for the post-study work visa in July 2021 for the first time. The applications for PSW open in july 2021 and a student can apply for the visa before their student visa expires, from within the UK. This will be true for all intakes. Once your course ends, you will be able to work full-time and apply for a post-study work visa till your Tier 4 Student Visa expires. 

Can I work part-time in the UK as a student?

The UK government allows international students studying in the UK to work part-time. Students are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week during sessions and 40 hours per week during vacations. Most international students work in restaurants, retail outlets, café’s, etc. Your university will also have plenty of part-time work opportunities that you can apply for.
